The snowdrop planting in mid February went very well in spite of a very chilly and damp morning about a dozen villagers turned up to help and 2000 bulbs were planted in 45 minutes. The flowers are looking good. Thanks to Steve for arranging it all.

Check out the Youth Club photos on the History page – lovely Tree Lanterns
The kids made lovely tree lanterns in December and put them on the tree opposite the pub for a while. Here are a selection of the finished items. Youth Group starts again on 3 February.
Quiz Night Success
The second CDCA village quiz night was a roaring success with eight teams and some interesting topics. Excellent fish and chips and good company.
The winners were The Bar Team, closely followed by Dottbyeggs Team and then the Artefacts. The poor losers were The Nutty Farmers! But they assured me that they enjoyed themselves.
Already looking forward to next year’s quiz.
Quiz tables are nearly all booked

Big Draw Festival at Youth Club
Loads of our village kids turned up to draw pictures of buildings, objects, trees, and other things in our village.
Here is one example. This is a picture of the bridge by Maisie Rose Wall.
The Big Draw Festival is for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t! It is an opportunity to join a global community in celebration of the universal language of drawing.
Super successful Village Fete
A big thank you to everyone for coming along and for those who helped make the day such a success. The weather was kind and everyone had a superb time and we raised lots of dosh for the village. Well done.
Village Picnic
Thanks also to everyone who worked so hard on putting up marquees and bunting for our village picnic; to the supplier of the cake (Hannah, please thank your wonderful lady who made the cake) and to all those who turned up and shared their lovely food.
A really good opportunity for residents of Compton and our local villages to hang out in perfect surroundings. I bet the little ones slept well!
String Orienteering
5 Villages Youth Group – String Orienteering in May
A band of village children had a great time following a string course through fields and woodland to test their mapping skills at the May, 5 Villages Youth Group. They were given a coloured map of the course, with the topographical features marked, and a key to the icons. The kids had to orientate themselves on the ground to the printed map, and then set off on the string course.
